Multiple Bookie System – Shopping For Pointspread Value
by Frank Benjamin

The pointspread is nothing more than an opinion.

Though the spread is often influenced by power-ranking, it is an opinion that the number will likely balance the money on both sides of the game. This is why the most sportsbooks have different opening lines. the action at certain books influences the direction the line moves. Because the pointspreads that each book offers is influenced by their opinion and their clientele, it is a sports investing principle to shop for the best line. I call it the Multiple Bookie System.

By now I am sure you understand the difference between a line of 3 or 3.5. Like most, I have been on the losing end of a bet by a half point. Because investing is about looking for the best value, it is important to shop for the best line.

My idea of shopping around for lines started early in my betting career when I used local bookies for every bet. I always had two, and sometimes three bookies. Not only did this allow me to shop around for the best lines, but it also allowed me to spread my money around and I wouldn’t lose too much to any one bookie.

I had friends that would get inflated lines from one of my bookies because they played the same team almost every week. Spreading my money around between multiple bookies also didn’t allow either bookie to see any betting patterns of mine. Since I shopped for every line, I usually never played the same team with each one on a regular basis. If I was betting a certain team almost every week, my bookies couldn’t adjust the line they gave me because they knew I was going to play it. Though online sportsbooks don’t do this, it shows you another reason and tactic of Sports Investing. Besides, I know many people still use local bookies.

Before you place your bet, be sure to check out one or two other sites.

Good Luck
